NBA Sixth Man of the Year Odds - Quickley & Brogdon Preseaon Favorites
Last season was an utter tilt-a-whirl for Sixth Man of the Year contenders, as the NBA odds to crown the league's best bench player were in heavy flux all season.
While Russell Westbrook was a comfortable favorite above mass movement for months, his seemingly-inevitable trade brought a starter's role and two new favorites — Immanuel Quickley and Malcolm Brogdon — whose odds oscillated violently down the stretch, with the latter eventually winning.
Both will be plugged into similar roles this season, so it's not a huge surprise to see their names atop the Sixth Man of the Year odds table for 2023-24.
Let's take a look at the rest of the preseason NBA 6MOY odds contenders.

Favorite to win NBA Sixth Man of the Year
Immanuel Quickley (+700)
Immanuel Quickely rode a meteoric rise in the Sixth Man odds last year, sitting in the +3,000 range for most of the season, then exploding over the final few months with a steadier role in Tom Thibodeau's rotation.
The Knicks' two-way bench sparkplug closed as a -370 favorite in the market, but was still upended by Brogdon when the ballots were revealed.
This season should bring a full slate of that production, with Quickley having proven himself a valuable cog in the Knicks' eventual success. Better yet, at just 24, he could still have upside left to yield, unlike many favorites in this market.
Malcolm Brogdon (+800)
The Celtics badly needed some tertiary scoring and playmaking, and Malcolm Brogdon filled that role to a T, even if Boston's end result fell short of expectations.
Brogdon's production wavered throughout the early season, but was a crucial cog throughout both regular season and playoffs. With Marcus Smart departed, that role will only be amplified, now likely the beneficiary of more minutes in the C's less-cramped backcourt.
Brogdon played a career-low 26.0 minutes per game last year, but, far more importantly, he appeared in 67 games — the most since his rookie season, after missing large chunks of the previous three campaigns.
If his durability can be extrapolated to more minutes, Brogdon's going to be a threat to repeat here.

Understanding NBA Sixth Man of the Year odds
Most Sportsbooks will display odds in the American format as listed above. We'll use 2022-23's 6MOY race as an example:
As the season progressed, with Quickley having been a huge favorite, his odds had a minus (-) sign ahead of the number:
- Immanuel Quickley -300
This means that a bettor needs to wager $300 to win $100. Other candidates with worse odds would have a plus (+) sign ahead of the number. Early in the season, before any clear favorite is established, betting options will be listed as such:
- Russell Westbrook +650
Here, a bettor stands to profit $650 for every $100 wagered.

NBA 6MOY betting trends
Here are some trends you'll want to keep in mind when betting on NBA Sixth Man of the Year:
- Guards have absolutely owned this award recently, winning 6MOY in 11 of the past 12 seasons.
- Only three centers (Montrezl Harrell '20, Roy Tarpley '88, and Bill Walton '86) have won 6MOY in its 41-year history.
- Further, since Antawn Jamison won playing out of position as a small forward on the 2003-04 Dallas Mavericks, only two non-guards (Lamar Odom '11, Montrezl Harrell '20) have claimed the trophy.
- Both Jamal Crawford ('10, '14, '16) and Lou Williams ('15, '18, '19) are recent three-time winners, so voter fatigue may matter less in this market.
