Trabzonspor hoping to beat Besiktas to Nicolas Pepe signing

Turkish Super Lig clubs Besiktas and Trabzonspor are competing to sign Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe, sources have confirmed to 90min . The Ivory Coast international was the most expensive signing in the Gunners' History until earlier this summer when Declan Rice made the £105m move from West Ham United, with Pepe joining in 2019 for £72m from Lille. However, Pepe fell out of favour at the Emirates Stadium during the 2021/22 season, making just 20 Premier League appearances that term. He spent the following year back in France on loan at Nice, scoring eight times in 28 matches. Pepe returned to Arsenal this summer but was not part of their pre-season preparations for the new campaign and has long had the club's blessing to look for a new club. 90min reported earlier this week that Besiktas were close to finalising a permanent move for Pepe, but they have been joined late in the race by Super Lig rivals Trabzonspor. Real Sociedad agree Kieran Tierney loan deal with Arsenal

Real Sociedad have reached agreement with Arsenal to sign defender Kieran Tierney on loan, 90min understands. The Basque-based club will feature in the Champions League after finishing fourth in La Liga last season - a fantastic reward for the continued progress made under manager Imanol Alguacil. Tierney has found himself on the periphery of Arsenal's side after initially struggling to command a place because of regular injuries, but even when fully fit, the Scotland international played second fiddle to Oleksandr Zinchenko last season. He has also seen Mikel Arteta add another option in versatile defender Jurrien Timber, though the Dutchman is set to miss an extended period of time because of an ACL tear. Nevertheless, Tierney is keen to play regular football and sources have confirmed to 90min that Real Sociedad have agreed a straight loan deal with Arsenal that will see the Spaniards cover his wages in full throughout the duration of his stay. There will be no buy option inc...

Arsenal summer signing suffers knee injury on Premier League debut

Arsenal were dealt a blow during their Premier League season opener against Nottingham Forest on Saturday when summer signing Jurrien Timber had to be hauled off through injury . The Netherlands defender joined from Ajax earlier this summer and made a good early impression for the Gunners throughout pre-season and in their Community Shield triumph against Manchester City last week. Timber started at left-back in Saturday's lunchtime kick-off against Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium and was playing well as Arsenal cruised into a two-goal lead - Eddie Nketiah's deflected strike broke the deadlock before Bukayo Saka added a second with a stunner from 25 yards. However, Timber was injured in first-half stoppage time in the act of trying to tackle Brennan Johnson, with the Welshman falling awkwardly onto Timber's knee. He received treatment from physios as the half came to a close and was able to come out for the second half. However, just minutes after the restar...

Aston Villa rebuffed with opening offer for Moussa Diaby

Aston Villa have had a bid rejected by Bayer Leverkusen for French winger Moussa Diaby, sources have confirmed to 90min . Villa are in the market for wingers and have already seen moves for Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams and Barcelona pair Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati fail to materialise. They also came close to landing Marcos Asensio, before the Spaniard chose to join Paris Saint Germain after leaving Real Madrid. However, Villa are working hard on options and have turned their attention to Diaby, who has long been a target for Premier League clubs. Newcastle have been long-term suitors and held talks last summer, while Arsenal have also been monitoring his situation for a number of months. But Villa made the first move and have lodged an opening offer worth €35m (£30m) plus add-ons. 90min understands that Leverkusen wasted little time in rejecting the bid though. The Bundesliga club have made it clear they want around €60m (£51m) for Diaby, although sources have told 90min th...
