Finance ministers of Japan and South Korea agree to resume currency swap agreement as ties warm

Japan and South Korea have agreed to revive a currency swap agreement for times of crisis TOKYO -- Japan and South Korea agreed Thursday to revive a currency swap agreement for times of crisis, in the latest sign of warming ties as the countries work to smooth over historical antagonisms. Japanese Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki announced the agreement after meeting with his South Korean counterpart, Choo Kyungho. It was the first time the two countries have held annual financial talks in seven years, though Suzuki and Choo also met in South Korea in May. Suzuki told reporters that the 3-year currency swap agreement would help reinforce trust in the financial stability of the two countries as a fallback in an emergency. But he emphasized that Japan is fully prepared to deal with fluctuations in the Japanese yen, which has weakened sharply against the U.S. dollar in the past year. The $10 billion swap arrangement expired in 2015 and had not been renewed. Largely symbolic, it allow

Meta launches new parental controls for Facebook, Instagram

Meta has launched improved parental control options for Instagram and Facebook. With the help of the new tools, parents will be able to see the amount of time their child is spending on Messenger, their contact list, and the privacy settings with the help of Meta Family Center. Along with that, parents will also get to know if their child reports anyone on the platform. With the new suite of parental control , parents will be able to get more insight into how well their child really knows the people they are following on Instagram and who follows their child. Apart from that, parents will also be able to keep track of how many friends their child has in common with whoever they are following and whoever follows them. This will help in understanding if the person is a stranger or not. Meta is still working on more parental control options for both the platforms amidst the growing concerns of safety for children using their apps. Source: https://thefoxposts.com/meta-launch

Argentine dictatorship’s ‘death flight’ plane returned home for a historical reckoning

Flying from Florida to Buenos Aires usually takes about 10 hours BUENOS AIRES, Argentina -- Flying from Florida to Buenos Aires usually takes about 10 hours, but the turboprop landing in Argentina on Saturday was no normal plane. It had been en route for 20 days, and many Argentines eagerly refreshed flight tracking software to keep tabs on its progress. The Short SC.7 Skyvan carried no crucial cargo nor VIP passengers. Rather, the plane will be another means for Argentines to reckon with the brutal History of their country's 1976-1983 Military dictatorship . The plane, which was discovered in the U.S., is the first ever proven in a court to have been used by Argentina’s junta to hurl political detainees to their deaths from the sky, one of the bloody period’s most cold-blooded atrocities. Argentina’s government will add the plane to the Museum of Memory, which is in what was the junta's most infamous secret detention center. Known as the ESMA, it housed many of the detaine

Infowars host Owen Shroyer has pleaded guilty to joining the mob of Donald Trump supporters who rioted at the U.S. Capitol WASHINGTON -- Infowars host Owen Shroyer, who promoted baseless claims of 2020 election fraud on the far-right internet platform, pleaded guilty on Friday to joining the mob of Donald Trump supporters who rioted at the U.S. Capitol. Shroyer, who didn’t enter the Capitol but led rioters in chants near the top of the building's steps, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of illegally entering a restricted area. The charge carries a maximum sentence of one year behind bars. U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly scheduled a Sept. 12 sentencing hearing for the 33-year-old Shroyer, who has hosted a daily show called “The War Room With Owen Shroyer” for the website operated by conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. Outside the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, Shroyer stood in front of a crowd with a megaphone and yelled that Democrats are “tyrants.” "And so today, on January 6,

Miller made MotoGP rival dig as "I want health of championship to be better"

Image
The KTM rider caused a storm last Sunday at the German Grand Prix when he called on rivals complaining about the problems they have been having with their bikes to "shut the fuck up and get on with the job". Miller didn't name anyone in his comments, but it was thought it was in part aimed at Marc Marquez, who withdrew from the German GP after suffering five crashes on his troubled Honda. On Thursday ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix at Assen, Miller doubled down on his comments and explained that they were aimed at "a mob of riders", not just Marquez. "The reaction is, it's a lot of clickbait and bullshit," Miller claimed when asked about it. "The majority of the people weren't even there at the debrief, so they don't even know what was actually said and then you get clickbaited and put on spray like this. "But it is what it is, this is the world we live in. At the end of the day, I just want the Health of the championshi

Why a MotoGP divorce is now the only option for Marquez and Honda

Image
Germany was presented as the best possible barometer to gauge the Health of the Marc Marquez/Honda partnership. It was once virtually unbeatable, taking six MotoGP crowns out of seven between 2013 and 2019. But the conclusion drawn from last weekend's visit to the Sachsenring, where previously he had nothing but victories, is that the best option for his future is to consider going elsewhere. In a day and a half, the Spaniard made two decisions that, knowing him even just a little, were undoubtedly among the most painful he has had to face in his life.  The first was to back off in the sprint race, so as not to crash for the fifth time. After crossing the finish line in 11th, Marquez explained: "The balance didn't pay off. To risk for a podium is worth it, to finish seventh or tenth is not worth it."  The crash he was trying to avoid on Saturday came the following day during the warm-up, and was caused by his bike's electronics. On a left-hand turn, Ma

How to defy the laws of medieval .ѕ.e.x. – Surprising secrets

These days, ѕex is everywhere. It’s in our books, films, songs, TV shows, and now, even our history articles. Although some countries still impose ѕtгісt гᴜɩeѕ upon ѕex, the fact is most western countries have relaxed in their approach to ѕex. Today, ѕex is something to be enjoyed, not to be аѕһаmed of. But that hasn’t always been the case. In medieval times, ѕex саme with so many гᴜɩeѕ and stipulations that it’s a wonder we didn’t go extіпсt. Married People Only Please In medieval times, the only people who were allowed to have ѕex were those who had exchanged marriage ⱱowѕ . ѕex before these ⱱowѕ, especially in early medieval times, was seen as a major sin. In fact, anyone found having ѕex before marriage could be executed by disembowelment! While this may sound pretty clear-сᴜt, it wasn’t. There were two sets of ⱱowѕ, and this саᴜѕed a certain degree of confusion. There were betrothal ⱱowѕ, which a couple used to pledge that one day they would get married, and the wedding ⱱ
